Advice Guide Launched To Help Consumers With Credit Card Statements.

APACS, the UK payment's association, has just launched a consumer guide that aims to help consumers understand their statement.
The new advice guide, launched on April 13 2007, is entitled "Understanding your statement", and provides consumers with need-to-know information about common features and terms, while offering detailed advice on what to look out for when checking statements. With a range of helpful hints and tips to facilitate a better understanding of consumer finance, the new APACS guide also offers advice on how and why statements should be checked regularly and thoroughly.
According to APACS (http://www.apacs.org.uk), 47 per cent of adults in the UK do not check their statements thoroughly enough. What's more, the research undertaken by the payments association in June 2006 shows that a further four per cent of owners do not even look at their statements!
Credit card users in Yorkshire and Humberside top the league of those not checking statements with nine per cent, almost one in ten, admitting to not opening their statements at all. These regions are followed by London and Wales (both at five per cent), then North West England and Scotland (both at four per cent). users in the East of England performed best
